As someone who doodles a lot, I love these ads for the Panamericana Escola de Arte e Design. These print ads hit the nail on the head because they focus on a simple everyday occurrence that creative individuals understand. This is what makes good ads: a key insight specific to the target.

PB&J Television Logo

I have seen this logo several times after the reality show Dress My Nest and always thought it was adorable. It is the logo for PB&J Television, a production company in Santa Monica, California.

Frito Lays: Made For Each Other

I saw a few of these spots for Frito Lays on television. The ads, done by the San Francisco agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, promote Frito Lay's chips and dip products as an inseparable combo. The tactic is smart because it shows that each product enhances the other. It's true love, snack style. I enjoy the animation that gives objects, like magnets and glasses, human emotions. The music used in each ads are fresh and fun. There are five in total and below are my two favorites.

"The Magnet"

"Little Bright Eyes"

Creative directors Rick Condos and Hunter Hindman, art director Jessica Feeney, senior copywriter Alexandra Tyler, executive producer Amanda Cox, senior producer Julie Hart, producer Jonathan Percy, music producer Todd Porter, account manager Nida Haider, associate account manager Mark George.

Logo animation on all spots was designed by Cobra Creative. The web site was produced at B-Reel.

Share Typeface

I love how these letters connect and the combo of capitol letters, lowercase letters and cursive (kind of the style I write in, but this is much prettier!) This typeface works well for a short saying like this but probably couldn't be used as a body font because it is too complicated. However, I could very well see this being framed and put on a wall as art.
(I couldn't find the creator of this typeface but I found it here.)

Daytrip Society

"Daytrip Society is a destination for those inspired by the romance of nature and the adventure of travel...the boutique features a unique mix of gifts, home décor, gear and hand-crafted treasures that blends modern design with the outdoors..." (lingo from About page at website)

First, I love the crest for this Maine boutique. I think the bird on the binoculars says that this place is about enjoying your time, whether on a daytrip or browsing around the store.

I also love the layout located on their homepage:

It shows a variety of the store's products but doesn't appear to be too busy because there is a clear separation of the products by keeping the background white. Also, the layout reflects what I think the store is about: a lot of different things that can still fit together. Design-wise, if you can make this work, you've done your job.

Public Awareness: Global Warming

Advertising Agency: Ponto de Criação / fluor, São Paulo, Brazil
Creative Director / Copywriter: Guto Araki
Art Director: Reinaldo Pina
Illustrator: Tribbo Post
Photographer: Ricardo Carvalho
Audio: Comando-S
Aired: January 2009

I like this ad because a message like global warming often becomes hard to relate to on a personal level. However, this television spot shows what would happen to a human's habitat if it was in the position that polar bears are currently in. And of course, it is simple and to me, simple is always best.

Reporters Without Borders

Copy: "Ink should flow when blood flows. Nothing and no-one should prevent journalists from reporting from combat zones."

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Excellent visual and outstanding copy that work together in unison, without feeling like there is too much going on in this ad. Nicely done.
